THE HARLINGTON

Based on our considerable expertise in designing performance and community facilities, the practice was selected by Fleet Town Council to prepare feasibility schemes to inform a public consultation exercise for a replacement arts and cultural centre to serve the town and broader region.

The brief centres around a 400 seat auditorium, foyer exhibition space, 50 seat café/bar and group meeting rooms, all with supporting accommodation and staff facilities. Parallel exercises have explored reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing facilities, as well as incorporation of a new town library. The redevelopment proposals provide an opportunity to create a broader community and cultural ‘heart’ for the town centre, with the new building defining not just a new public square fronting onto the high street, but also providing a direct route to integrate the neighbouring park, the most significant open recreation space in the town.
